In The Studio

Since last week I decided to put down the clay and pick up the paint brush. I have a number of paintings in the works. I do it this way because it gives me a chance to see what needs to be changed. Sometimes I may paint a face three time before I decide it is ok. I am also working on some jewelry, but I am not happy enough with it to share yet. I took one of my dolls that was made of paper clay and sanded the face completely off. It was hard for me to do that because she has so much embellishment going on, but her face just didn't work for me. That is what makes paper clay so great. I also painted a mermaid on muslin. This will be a textile collage. The fairy with the roses is going to be very embellished. A dimensional piece. I hope everyone is having a creative week.

I love all of these. I had forgotten that you paint these glorious roses. Maybe sometime you could give us a step by step tutorial for them. I love the way they look.

By the way, what is that big black blob on your mermaid's face?

Hey Kim
Amazing work, you can really paint, I like to change and do other art in between, it helps you not get stale

Kim, you are such an inspiration! I love it when you post to your blog as all your posts I find so motivating for me to 'get to work'.

The pieces above are beautiful and I'm looking forward to seeing the mermaid finished. My favorite at the moment is the faerie...gorgeous!

you're a busy lady! so much on the go, and such variety! can't wait to see what you do with that fabric mermaid (I love mermaids!)
thanks for stopping by my blog, I like your idea about setting a stopwatch and painting for 30 minutes with no expectations. I could see this being an interesting way of creating an abstract.

You are so multifaceted! I love the collage! Glad I am not the only one with ten thousand things in the works at once!
